Billing and Subscription

Compound is offered on a free trial followed by a paid subscription. Current pricing is on the pricing page.

The Free Trial

New accounts start a 14-day free trial at checkout — a card is required to start, but you're not charged until the trial ends, and you can cancel anytime before then. The trial gives you full access to every feature. We'll send a reminder a few days before it ends so you can decide whether to stay subscribed.

Plans

Two billing cycles — monthly or annual — across two tiers, Base and Compound Plus. Annual saves roughly 17% per month versus paying monthly. Plus adds the advanced tools (Ask Compound AI, investment analysis, the FIRE plan, the HSA vault, precision bank-powered bill tracking, tax export, and automatic home valuation); core budgeting, accounts, pattern-based subscription detection, and monthly reports are included on Base.

Managing Your Subscription

Settings → Billing shows your current plan, next renewal date, and payment method. From there you can:

  • Upgrade from monthly to annual.
  • Update your payment method (billing is handled by Paddle, our Merchant of Record; the change happens in Paddle's secure billing portal).
  • Cancel — takes effect at the end of your current paid period; you keep access through that date.

Coach-Sponsored Subscriptions

Coaches on Compound for Coaches can sponsoryour seat — their plan covers your Compound subscription and you never see a bill. Your billing page will show “Covered by your coach” while a sponsorship is active. If the sponsorship ends — your coach stops sponsoring, cancels their plan, or your connection ends — you get a 14-day grace period to start your own subscription. Your data is never touched either way.

Payment Problems

If a charge fails, we'll email you and put your account in a brief grace period during which you can still sign in to fix the payment method. After the grace period without a successful payment, portal access is limited to the billing page until the issue is resolved. Your data stays intact through this process.
