Exporting your data

You own your data. Compound lets you export a complete copy of every record we hold for your account, including transactions older than two years that live in cold storage.

How to Request an Export

  1. Sign in and go to Settings → Data & privacy.
  2. Choose JSON or CSV. JSON preserves the structured shape; CSV is friendlier for spreadsheets.
  3. Click Request export and confirm with your authenticator app.

We generate the file in the background — usually within a few minutes. When it's ready you'll get an email with a secure download link that expires after 7 days. You'll need to be signed in to download.

What's Included

  • Profile + subscription info (plan, status, renewal date).
  • Connected accounts (with last-four mask, never full numbers).
  • Every transaction we have on record — including archived ones older than two years.
  • Categories, category rules, transaction splits.
  • Budgets, goals + contributions, debts.
  • Net-worth snapshots and monthly summaries.
  • Coach connections and household membership.
  • Notifications history.

What's Deliberately Not Included

  • Encrypted security data (PBKDF2 hashes of recovery codes, encrypted Plaid access tokens) — useless out of context and sensitive.
  • Audit logs and active-session telemetry — security-sensitive.

Rate Limits

Up to 3 export requests per 24 hours, and one in progress at a time. If you hit the limit, wait an hour and try again.
